Isn't it inconsiderate to douse yourself so liberally with perfume/aftershave?

Please, if you're going to be using public transport or cramming yourself into some other kind of confined space with other people, just have a wash and use deodourant -that's all you need!





You'll save money too, by not bathing in Chanel No 5 every day! It's wasted on your work colleagues anyway -save it for special occasions (when you won't be using public transport).





It only makes people suspicious that you're trying to cover up some other kind of smell anyway.....

I'm with you 100% on that one! I also avoid the fragrance salesgirl who likes to chase people down in department stores %26amp; spray them with the latest smells. Shouldn't that be illegal? Some people really do have allergies to various scents or get rashes or headaches. That's why so many unscented products are popular today.





Here's a newsflash for all of you who wear that stuff to work, in an elevator, on a bus, etc. Perfumes and aftershaves are very subjective. What might smell nice to YOU, (regardless of how much money you wasted on it) is actually naseuating everybody around you! People who consistently marinate themselves in perfumes probably have numbed their olfactory sense to the point where they may not even be aware of how strong it smells to others. And to the person who suggested wearers save it for special nights out instead of the office: Why subject the people out at restaurants, plays and concerts, etc. to your smells? How bout saving it for those nights at home when it's only you, or you %26amp; one other person? (And when you think you know the exact amount to wear, try dividing that amount by 10. One bottle should be able to last you a lifetime.)





Perfumes %26amp; aftershaves should never take the place of bathing %26amp; deodorant! Many workplaces have instituted policies of no fragrances at work, and that's an excellent idea. If you are one of those people who wear fragrances, you should know that others are talking about you when you walk away %26amp; your scent is still there. And it's not because you are turning them on! Good basic hygiene is all that is really necessary.





For those who feel they must wear perfume or cologne, remember:

I agree with you. When ppl wear the same scent for a while they can't smell it and put more on. Ppl need to realize that some ppl have perfume allergies.
I agree totally. I have a co worker who wears way too much perfume and every time I'm around her I start sneezing. It is inconsiderate of others.
I agree! Alot of them make me sneeze. But the poor dears who you can smell at 100 yards need help. How does anyone ever kiss them?


They need to learn that having to LEAN IN TOWARDS THEM for the smell is the sexy bit and that their own smell is probably is sexier too.
Yeah I agree. It always makes me sneeze on the tube! I reckon that people may not realise it is so strong coz when you've been wearing a perfume for a while, you tend to not notice it as much!
I do find the smell of anothers perfume/aftershave quite overwhelming and sickly.

Can't stand it . I now understand why we can't smoke in lifts .Get too close to one of these people while lighting a cigarette and BOOM ! For sure .
I don't think people who wear perfume and aftershave do it to be inconsiderate. In fact, most of the time I like it. But it does cause problems sometimes for people with allergies, etc. Maybe there could be a compromise where people just wear a little.
Yes, it is. With all the people that suffer from breathing difficulties(ie asthma) it is just plain rude. Also, not to mention all the headaches people get from smelling all that crap. Everything in moderation. Yes, I 100% agree with you....
i do not think a person should douse theirself with cologne or perfume....but a little does not hurt....i usually only put it on at night or when i have a date...but i do not think a person should put so much on they gag everyone else......
Yes, it makes you wonder what their trying to hide,maybe another smell.Strong is not good,just a little, is refreshing.
Oh yes, aren't you so right? I myself used to drench myself in perfume but now, i just sprinkle alittle behind the ears, wrists. The fainter the perfume, the more attractive it'll smell. Its said that if you can't smell your perfume you are wearing, then its fine-if you do, then you're wearing way too much.





And some perfumes are just too strong esp. those for men heh!
I agree, but I think that people become used to the smell of their perfume, so when they put it on, they use it until they can smell it - not realizing that they're wearing enough to fill a bathtub.





A walk through a nursing home on bridge day is enough to convince me of that!
Yeah know what you mean,so I stopped using it,and guess what ppl still move to the next seat.
Being a cashier at a very busy c-store I ';smell'; allot of people all day long. While I agree it is inconsiderate, I don't necessarily agree that they are trying to cover up anything although I imagine a few are. I just think that the ';marinate-ors'; don't realize how potent the scent is and they don't know how to apply it correctly. Less is more!!!!!
I agree I hate getting the bus or the train in the morning rush hour, I too wear perfume, but probably only the next person to me can smell it slightly, but some people must have bathed in it as you cannot smell anything else, which generally maked me feel nausious or on some occassions it has given me a headache. Though I must point out I prefere that smell to those people who do not bath at all.
Perhaps some people wear perfume/aftershave for themselves and not to show off to others. Perhaps you need to look more deeply into a subject before you complain about it. I wear aftershave, because I like the smell of it. Do you cover yourself in it to make yourself seem better or more attractive than somebody else?

I totally agree. There is nothing worse than being stuck on a plane or visiting a sick person in the hospital and all you can smell is perfume. I have allergies and it gives me headaches so I can just imagine how many other people feel the same way. Many places are becoming scent free now so that one doesnt have to be nausseated by Chantilly or Brut.
I usually wear a little perfume every day, but I do the spray and walk thru technique. I don't appreciate when other people's scents overwhelm me, so I try not to do it to others. I just think people need to learn how to apply perfumes. It's not necessary to douse yourself from head to toe. A little definitely goes a long way.

Besides I'm allergic to some of the perfumes out there and they make me sneeze up a storm. I try to avoid the perfume section when walking through department stores.
i agree. we have a woman in my office who marinates herself in some scent or other every day. you can tell which way she's gone for hours afterward, and the stench in her area reaches about 100 ft in all directions.
Agreed. Most perfumes smell horrid anyway and strong ones trigger my migraines. To me it's about the same as people who blow smoke in your face.





Plus to pay 拢20+ for some smelly water is just stupid LOL Subtle natural frangrances like vanilla are much better.
